Purpose of This Page

Politics News is designed to help readers find recent South African political reporting by party while keeping the original publisher at the centre of the reading experience.

This page explains the source rules, party-inclusion method, classification approach, duplicate-story grouping and rolling 30-day window used by the site.

Party Inclusion

Party pages are based on parties that met the published Politics News inclusion rule for the current version of the site. The initial V1 structure follows parties that received more than 1.00% of the valid 2024 national ballot vote.

The order of party pages follows 2024 national vote-share order for navigation clarity. This order is not a ranking of quality, credibility, integrity, popularity beyond the election result, current performance or public value.

Source Selection

Politics News prioritises sources with identifiable editorial responsibility, public availability and relevance to South African political reporting. Sources may include national, international, provincial and regional publishers where they cover qualifying South African political events.

Approved-source status does not mean Politics News endorses the publisher or every article it publishes. It means the source is considered eligible for discovery, classification and linking under the platform rules.

Sources may be added, disabled or reviewed for operational, quality, legal, copyright, access, reliability or security reasons.

Story Discovery and Classification

Stories may be identified through automated ingestion, source feeds, structured source lists or manual review. AI and automated systems may help identify potentially relevant political stories, classify the involved party or parties and retain scope metadata for review.

Discovery can include both party names and recognised top leadership figures, because leadership actions, public-office conduct and political statements may be relevant to how readers understand the party.

A story should be connected to a party only when the party, its leaders, representatives, governance role, policy position, campaign activity, legislative action or public conduct is materially relevant to the report.

Classification can be corrected if a story is assigned to the wrong party, missed, over-classified or under-classified.

Duplicate-Event Grouping

When several publishers report substantially the same underlying event, Politics News may group the coverage into one story card. The card should retain links to original sources so readers can compare coverage and read the complete publisher articles.

Duplicate grouping is event-based. Stories should not be merged merely because they mention the same party or person; they should concern the same underlying incident, announcement, dispute, speech, vote, policy development, court matter or public event.

Automated grouping can make mistakes. Readers and publishers can report duplicate, missed or incorrectly merged stories by emailing the contact address below.

Summaries and Display Text

Politics News summaries are short, neutral discovery aids. They are intended to help readers decide whether to open the original article, not to replace the article.

Summaries should avoid adding unsupported claims, political persuasion, emotional framing or conclusions not present in the underlying source material. Where source material differs, readers should consult the linked publishers directly.

Thirty-Day News Window

Politics News generally displays stories from the preceding 30 days, based on the original publication date where available. Older stories may expire from public display as part of the rolling window.

Expiry from Politics News is not a judgement about the importance or accuracy of a story. It is a product rule intended to keep the site focused on recent coverage.

Corrections and Source Feedback

Correction requests, broken links, copyright concerns, source updates, party-classification issues and duplicate-story issues can be sent to info@futureinsights.co.za.

Requests should include the relevant Politics News page, the source URL if available, a short explanation of the concern and any supporting context. Requests will be reviewed in good faith, but receipt does not guarantee a specific outcome.
