Version 1 does not ask ordinary readers to create public accounts, set passwords, subscribe to a newsletter or maintain a personalised profile.

Public Visit Counter Privacy

If a public visit counter is displayed, it should show only an aggregate number. It must not publicly reveal names, email addresses, IP addresses, exact locations, browsing histories, device identifiers or lists of recent visitors.

The preferred approach is a privacy-conscious first-party session token that counts one browser session within a limited active window rather than every page refresh. Raw IP addresses should not be stored solely for public counting where a less intrusive method is available.

The aggregate count is an approximate website-visit measure, not an audited unique-person count.
